Exclusive: Brooklyn Decker Talks ‘Grace and Frankie,’ Quarantine Life & Zyrtec Partnership

Actress Brooklyn Decker recently partnered with allergy relief brand Zyrtec with their Go All Out in the Backyard campaign.

The busy actress spoke with The Knockturnal about her new partnership, quarantine, mom life, and more. With the pandemic and stay home orders beginning in 2020 the backyard has been a real escape for Brooklyn & her family, so that’s why she has partnered with ZYRTEC, which gives her powerful, 24-hour relief from allergy symptoms so she can enjoy all the fun and creativity in the backyard this year.

The Knockturnal: What was it like working on The final season of “Grace & Frankie.”

Brooklyn Decker: We were shut down due to Covid. We started and got to the middle of the fifth episode when we shut down and we are going back to resume production at the end of June. We haven’t even completed it yet. It feels like it has been a year and it is going to be a season two years in the making. We go back in June and it will be goodbye.

The Knockturnal: What is a farewell message you would give the fans of the show?

Brooklyn Decker: I hope that, as it always has done, that the final season wraps everyone in a cozy hug. I think we all need that more than ever and that’s why the show has been so successful because it’s just warm and joyful and I know that the final season will do the same. It’ll tow that line of having an emotional heartbeat and also a lot of really silly laughs. I’m excited to be on television, I am very used to my shows just being canceled and not having the opportunity to say a proper goodbye and storylines tie-up. So, this is the first time I feel like I can go in knowing that it’s the end and appreciating every moment on set, every storyline, and every scene. I am excited to go through this process because it will be a first for me.

The Knockturnal: With you being a busy actress, model, and mom, what has this quarantine and life at home been like for you?

Brooklyn Decker: It has been challenging. I think that anytime you have a family locked down together for over a year it presents its challenges. I think our family recognizes our challenges pale in comparison to most, and we try to hold on to the good. Ultimately, I think when we look back at that time we are going to be grateful for the fact that we had a year where we were stuck and still with our kids. I don’t know of any other circumstances where people could have this opportunity. We are trying to reframe it positively. There has been a lot of violence in the past year and I think we are just grateful we had this time with our little ones.

The Knockturnal: With being a mom, what are your mother’s day plans?

Brooklyn Decker: That’s a great question. I don’t know. Preferably I would have some alone time that day, is that terrible, that I want alone time on mother’s day. I would love my husband to take my kids to the park and give me just an hour or two of just quiet. It would be lovely to just read or to do anything. But, I have no idea, we will see what Andy and the kids have in store.

The Knockturnal: How have you been able to stay active and healthy while being at home?

Brooklyn Decker: Our yard has been a lifesaver. It has been a huge reason as to why I partnered with Zyrtec which is why I am here today. I have been an allergy sufferer for a lot of my adult life. I think that in my family we have always been outdoorsy people and all of us recognize the value of getting outside and the value of having a yard but that is difficult when you’re an allergy sufferer. So, I am super excited to be partnering with Zyrtec not only in life because it can give 24-hour relief but also it works. We have spent so much time outside and so much time in our front yard building tents and forts and creating campfires, watching movies, and trying to get completely creative in ways we never imagined we had to do before the pandemic, but that has been our saving grace. Again, we have always gone to mountains all the time, we love hiking, rock climbing, and kayaking and those are things that are very important to us. In the last year, branching out wasn’t an option so we’ve treasured our yard.

The Knockturnal: You have recently partnered with ZYRTEC to support their “Go All Out in the Backyard” campaign. Could you tell us a little bit about your partnership?

Brooklyn Decker: One of the things I love about this partnership is not only that I am a user of this product and trust me I think we can all understand that no one wants allergy symptoms, especially not during a pandemic because they are very scary and alarming. So Zyrtec recognizing the importance of outdoor space has donated $50,000 to The Conservation Fund’s with the Parks with Purpose program and what that does is it transforms neglected green spaces into vibrant parks, community gardens, and more.

The Knockturnal: What is your favorite backyard activity?

Brooklyn Decker: We have a massive magnolia tree in our yard it’s like a fort lover’s dream.  It’s all canopied and it’s beautiful and it’s been there for 70 years or so. We go in there and read books and we bring a speaker out there and listen to music, we build forts, and we just bury treasure and we do all sorts of things. I think I love that most.  Not only do I get to be outside and enjoy the outdoors, but I get to see my kids’ imagination flourish and it’s such a magical thing to see in real-time. That spot gives us that opportunity.
