The newest film is lighthearted, hopeful, cultural, and promising.
The film follows documentary-maker Zoe (Lily James) who documents her neighbor’s (Shazad Latif) journey into marriage through an arranged one, organized by his parents. Throughout her experiences as a hopeless romantic, she begins to wonder if this is an approach that she should learn from when looking for love. “I just hope that they have an emotional response,” says Shazad Latif when discussing what he hopes for viewers when they watch the rom-com. “Whether they’ll laugh, or cry, or whether it’ll inspire them in some way”.
Film director, Shekhar Kapur also shares the same sentiments when discussing the perception of the movie. “I’m hoping that they’ll receive it as a story of their lives”, the director says with a smile. “That’s really what I am hoping, especially because it’s coming out after Covid”. The director also hopes for the movie to have an emotional appeal to viewers in feeling closer to their families. “It’s a family movie,” he says. “Family is very important to us”.
