On The Scene: Eva Mendes & New York and Company Presentation

Last night, Eva Mendes hosted an intimate gathering for her latest collaborative collection with New York & Company.

The presentation was held at Academy Mansion with cocktails and hors d’oeuvres served prior to the unveiling. The collection featured a variety of fabrics, while focusing on lace and satin headband accents. Turtlenecks, layers and long hemlines were another pattern seen throughout the collection. The most refreshing aspect of presentation was the variety of models used. Eva did not only stick to the cliche or customary sized model, but showcased curvier models as well demonstrating that her collection fits every body type.

Plaid and tweed skirt suits were reminiscent of clueless meets classic Chanel, featuring classic silhouettes. The color palette ranged from pink and blue pastels to somber black. The highlight was by far the final piece, a light green ball gown with shimmery floral accents. Not only did this piece show the most skin, it elevated the concept of ready-to-wear formal wear.

While the overall presentation may have been better without the belts, headbands, jewelry and accessories, the pieces themselves were beautiful and Eva seemed genuinely excited when she thanked attendees at the end of the presentation. To top it off, Eva sent everyone home with a swag bag, or box rather, filled with goodies. The box contained a scarf from Eva’s collection, a Circa Beauty kit and a handwritten thank you letter from Eva herself, sending everyone home with her autograph, which, you have to admit, is pretty cool.
