EP Review: Conrad Sewell Debuts ‘All I Know’

Conrad Sewell’s new “All I Know” debut EP blends funk with the soul of gospel music and he’s bringing his sound to America.

All I Know can be divided in to two sections. One of Sewell’s stylistic influences is funk. Sewell’s vocals and beat create catchy stand out track “Who You Loving” about an unfaithful partner. The track is easy to sing along to despite the heavy topic. His vocals are the forefront in “Hold Me Up.” The desperation of longing for someone is heard in every word he sings from the start of the track. The EP is available in America on Jan. 8.

On the slower side, fellow Aussie Kygo’s track “Firestone,” which Sewell provided vocals for is an intimate message speaking about the incredible power of love. The song is rather stripped down, beginning with only a piano and provides a nice balance to the more pop like tracks on the EP. Sewell sticks to the topic of relationships in “Remind Me.” The heartfelt song recounts a previous relationship and closes out the the record leaving the listener contemplating their own memories.

At the end of 2015 Sewell took home the ARIA Song of the Year award for single “Start Again.” With strong gospel undertones and chorus style back up vocals, it is a track that will get right down in to your emotions.

Having previously toured Australia supporting Ed Sheeran and Maroon 5, Sewell will be touring the U.S. come Jan. 14. Details of the tour are listed below:
