Concert Review: Loote Opens For Betty Who At Terminal 5

On Wednesday night, May 22, concertgoers lined up around the block for Betty Who and her opener, Loote, at the legendary venue of Terminal 5. The night began with the young band members of Loote, Jackson Foote and Emma Lov, and their drummer took to the stage with a killer set list.  The two musicians were first introduced by one of their professors at SUNY Purchase College and have been inseparable since. The kindred spirits began to lay the foundation of their particular dynamic style by writing and remixing songs.

Fairly new to the scene, with their debut EP, Single, dropping only last year in 2018, they have already accumulated an impressive Resume.  Not only have they averaged over 8 million monthly listeners on Spotify for their hits, “High Without Your Love,” and “Your Side of the Bed,” they have also collaborated with big names, such as David Guetta and Brooks on the 2019 charter “Better When You’re Gone.” Their talent as individuals is evident as well, since Jackson co-produced and co-wrote Zara Larsson’s “Ruin My Life.”

Their set list included fan favorites, such as the anthemic forlorn hit “Wish I Never Met You,” pop-y “Your Side Of The Bed,” and their most popular hit “Better When You’re Gone.” They also treated the audience to some of their new release such as the atmospheric “Tomorrow Night,” and the acoustic ballad “85%.” Their songs warmed the crowd up with their ambient melodies and rhythmic beat drops.

At one point, singer and guitarist, Emma Lov, got emotionally teary as the crowd cheered over their songs, exclaiming, “This is a dream come true!” She and Jackson embraced on stage and got ready for their next song. Truly the power duo, their vision and unfiltered honesty is unfolded on their 2019 single “Tomorrow Tonight,” and will continue to be revealed in their upcoming album, due to drop within the year. A stellar opener for Betty Who, it is clear that they are ready to conquer the pop realm and take the world by storm.
