Company XIV’s “Seven Sins” Brings A New Meaning On How To Sin

Temptation has returned to Brooklyn.

Company XIV is back again with one of their sexiest shows, “Seven Sins.”  It is a tale as old as time itself, a reinterpretation of the creation of Adam and Eve.  The story transports viewers to the time where Adam and Eve were created, and how the downfall of mankind happens as they are tempted by each of the seven sins, and eventually eat the forbidden fruit.  And in Company XIV fashion, each sin is reinterpreted into this elegant, sexy, and over the top character that slowly but surely causes the two to fall into temptation.

The show starts off similarly to the story.  God created Adam in their image and Eve is created from the rib of Adam.  And shortly after they meet, they are tempted by each sin.  Company XIV does a fun interpretation where each sin has their own theme and schtick.  Each cast member assigned to a sin brings that sin to life, performing a beautiful style of dance, singing, or circus act that truly embodies that portrayed sin.  And after each sin delivers their form of temptation, the couple fall into sin by eating the forbidden fruit.  In that moment, the couple is stripped of clothes and belongings, fully exposed to each other where they perform what can only be described as a beautiful and emotionally driven dance performance that will leave you in awe and in tears.

There are so many things to love and appreciate about a Company XIV production.  As soon as you walk in, you are greeted by the gorgeous cast members of the troupe and are promptly seated in their beautifully decorated, incense filled, and sultry themed home theatre, Theatre XIV.   As soon as the show starts, smoke drops and the actors flood the stage from all sides of the venue.  And as the light hits, you can’t help but admire the over-the-top but extremely chic outfits each cast member is wearing.  And it isn’t until you see the light reflect off the jewel drenched bralette or jockstrap that you truly understand what it is like to be at a Company XIV show.  Throughout the show you see performances you couldn’t even dream of.  Only at a Company XIV show will you see aerial acrobatics, contortionism, and an operatic singing drag artist perform in the same night.  The mixture of burlesque, comedy, fashion, and dance is what keeps fans of the show coming back.
