Go down the rabbit hole with Company XIV – you won’t be disappointed
Company XIV is back again with their spring showcase. And this season, they have brought back one of our favorite shows of all time, Queen of Hearts. This show is a reprise from their 2019 hit that is based on the classic tale of Alice in Wonderland. And with a revamped show featuring original songs from Lexxe (who plays Alice), Queen of Hearts solidifies itself as one of the best shows created by Company XIV.
In-line with the classic tale, the story begins with Alice living a sheltered and confined life that she wishes to break free. Shortly after, she meets the famous White Rabbit who guides her down the rabbit hole and into the mysterious Wonderland. She is then teleported the chaotic world of Wonderland and has to navigate her way through all its dangers so she can make it back home alive.
The choreography from this number was unique and the way the two played off of each other made for such a vibrant and thrilling performance. Then there was the captivating performance of Syrena who played the infamous Caterpillar. Syrena took the stage in a leather cocoon which was slowly stripped off during this sexually charged performance.
Once the cocoon was stripped, Syrena took the stage while balancing a hookah station on her head. Syrena then performed a captivating belly dancing routine all while smoking the hookah which sold us the entire Wonderland fantasy. And as Syrena blew smoke rings throughout the performance, you could feel the character come to life and ooze both sensuality and elegance. And we have to mention the talents of both Lexxe, who played Alice, and Madison Rose, who played the Queen of Hearts.
Both stars performed vocal numbers that blew us away and showcased their incredible singing talents. Both performers stepped into their roles beautifully and took on the traits of their characters. And being real life friends, these two performers used that relationship to create great chemistry which elevated the performance to the next level.
