Great to sip and great to mix
A new tequila brand called Coca Pura has recently hit the market. This 90 proof sipping tequila is made from 100% Weber Agave and it the perfect tequila to add to any mixed drink or margarita. And to celebrate their launch, Coca Pura hosted a lavish party at Proper West in midtown that featured five craft cocktails using Coca Pura. This event also paired each drink with a delicious bite. The cocktails featured includes the Palomite which had fresh lime, pink grapefruit and agave. This drink was paired with the poke tostada. The next drink was one of our favorites and it was called Pearadise Lost. This was made with pear nectar, grand marnier, and cinnamon. This drink was definitely on the sweeter side with the pear nectar, but paired with the cinnamon added the right amount of spice. This drink was paired with some veggie spring rolls which were a nice bite to have. The next drink up was called the Moda Nova which was made with cinnamon, chocolate, and orange. This was more of a dessert drink but every menu needs a nice dessert with it. This drink was paired with a charcuterie and cheese plate. The next drink was called the Coca Picosa which was made with habanero, lime, and sea salt. This was more along the lines of a classic spicy margarita and was nice because the habanero was a little bit on the mellow heat side so it didn’t overpower your palate. This was paired with their Bang Bang Shrimp which helped accentuate the nice heat from the habanero in the drink. The last drink on the menu was called Stay Up which was made with Kahlua, espresso, a vanilla and was paired with Raspberry and Fontina cheese. This was more like an espresso martini but the tequila version of it. It had a very nice coffee taste which came at the forefront upon first sip. And it was definitely loaded with caffeine which wakes you up with every sip of your drink.
