The hair and makeup for Christian Siriano’s 15th anniversary collection was a nod to ballet – the inspiration behind the collection.

Christian Siriano presented his SS24 collection at NYFW on Friday, September 8 at the historical Pierre Hotel beside Central Park. Siriano’s latest collection is an evident reflection of his childhood ballet education. From the generous addition of fluffy tulle, to the corsets, and to iconic ballet pink hues throughout, the collection was a perfect balance between glamorous and ethereal.

“My inspiration started from the clothes. The moment I saw the softness of the color tones, the richness of the fabrication, and the beautiful layering of the tulle details of the gowns in Christian’s studio, I knew to best support the looks I had to keep the hair feeling soft with clean girl aesthetic but put together like you would expect to see a ballerina fairy who twirls down the runway.” – Lacy Redway, Unilever Stylist and Celebrity Hair Artist

The hair was heavily inspired by the ballet theme floating about. The two hair looks were “Satin Strands” and “Barre Braids”. These ballet-inspired styles Lacy Redway created are a new take on the trending “lazy perfectionist” hair looks that seem simple at first glance, but have an added twist that makes them memorable.

The Satin Strands were created with TRESemmé Keratin Smooth Heat Protect Spray, TRESemmé Extra Hold Mousse, TRESemmé Ultra Fine Hairspray, and TRESemmé Keratin Smooth Shine Serum

  1. Prep strands with the TRESemmé Keratin Smooth Heat Protect Spray, then smooth TRESemmé Extra Hold Mousse on the roots before blow drying with a flat paddle brush
  2. Use a flat iron to straighten strands, then spray the TRESemmé Ultra Fine Hairspray on a paddle brush and run through hair to smooth flyaways
  3. Give ends of hair extra hydration and shine by adding the TRESemmé Keratin Smooth Shine Serum
  4. Lift sections of hair, then back comb underneath and spritz with TRESemmé Ultra Fine Hairspray to give the hair grip, then use a bobby pin to secure a ribbon to the hair

The Barre Braids were created with TRESemmé Extra Hold Mousse, TRESemmé Extra Hold Hairspray, and TRESemmé Extra Hold Gel

  1. Prep hair with the TRESemmé Extra Hold Mousse to hydrate strands and give them a grip for styling
  2. Create a part from the top of the ears, around the crown of the head, then separate the top section into two smaller sections down the middle
  3. Dutch braid each section towards the nape of the neck, then bring the two sections together, fasten with an elastic, and add some TRESemmé Extra Hold Gel to braids to flatten any flyaways
  4. Braid the remaining hair, then loop into a bun, secure with an elastic, securing the entire style with TRESemmé Extra Hold Hairspray
  5. Loop a ribbon through the top of the braids, and loop through like a corset, wrapping around the loop of the bun, letting the ends hang loose
