On The Scene: #BreakfastBattle Hosted By Meatpacking District

On Monday, February 29, the Meatpacking District hosted a “Battle of the Breakfasts” from the area’s hottest brunch restaurants.

The restaurants included Giovanni Rana, Doughnuttery, Fig & Olive, STK, Bodega Negra, and much more. All the restaurants had individual booths with breakfast foods of their own creation. The guests got to sample them all and then vote for their favorite at the end. Highlights from the food included mini donuts from Doughnuttery (the winner of the evening), incredible brioche with bourbon butter from Colicchio & Sons, lobster macaroni and cheese from Bagatelle, and a peanut butter and jelly yogurt shake from Creamline in Chelsea Market. STK Rooftop had a king crab bellini with spicy tomato chutney that came in a close second.

The idea of the battle was to get people to realize that there’s more to the Meatpacking District than its infamous nightlife. Of course, it would be hard to drag out the guests for a battle that competed in the AM, so the battle was hosted at night–partnered with the hashtag, #Breakfast4Dinner. The guests were also treated to live music and breakfast cocktails. Moet & Chandon served pink champagne, and Belvedere Vodka had a delicious drink that combined honey, champagne, and vodka for a more breakfast friendly take on hard liquor.

Shout out to Belvedere for the invite!
