Bob Marley’s 75th Birthday breezes in at the One Love Hotel in Hollywood for Grammy Week

Luke James, Ro James and Elijah Kelley post up with Island/Darkchild Records newest crooner: Jac Ross, at his One Love Hotel performance during Grammy week.

The love was felt in the lobby of the “One Love Hotel” in West Hollywood this weekend as the King of Reggae’s 75th Birthday was celebrated during Grammy week with performances from some of R&B’s rising stars.

Entering the lobby of the 1 Hotel in Hollywood, guests were instantly immersed into the melodious rhythms of reggae. The “One Love Hotel” presented by Mastercard was invoked from Bob Marley’s global hit, “One Love,” and featured performances from some of Island Record’s most talented.

Recent Urban One Honors performer, Jac Ross, set the tone for the night as he opened up with some of his newest hits, including his debut single, “It’s Ok To Be Black.” Between sets, music by DJ Sean G & Drewbyrd of Shabbaaaaa Sound System kept the crowd lively. Ross warmed up the room for the main act of the night – Island Record‘s Grammy nominee, Jessie Reyez. Reyez brought the love to the stage as she opened with a personal song followed by a tribute to Bob Marley himself as she sang a rendition of “Is This Love” to honor the King of Reggae’s 75th birthday.

Said Bruce Resnikoff, president and CEO of UMe (Universal Music Group’s global catalog company), “Bob Marley is unique in that he not only made his mark with his significant musical accomplishments, but also communicated to his fans worldwide, bringing together people of all ages, cultures and race with his message.” Marley’s message rang true at the One Love Hotel this weekend as everyone gathered under a united mantra of “One Love.”
