BERENIK Shakes NYFW with the launch to their Spring/Summer 2018 Collection

Last Tuesday in SoHo BERENIK, a women’s contemporary sportswear label by Swiss designer Veronika Brusa returned to New York Fashion Week unmasking their Spring/Summer 2018 collection with a live performance and presentation held at the recently opened U.S. flagship store on 419 Broome Street. The contemporary sportswear line was created in 2010 as a means to explore the relationship between visual arts and apparel. Brusa’s main source of inspiration for the collection comes from a series of Duplo/Lego abstract masks of the artist Marcin Gajewski and showcases hip, comfortable, functional and athletic silhouettes.

A mix of 103 movement and performance artists and models, all with painted faces and wearing pieces from the collection, walked in a straight line together around the streets of Soho into the store where the presentation and performance officially began. The models were positioned around the store, while the acclaimed Pascal Rekoert choreographed routines for the dancers throughout room for the entire hour. The performance was one of a kind and uniquely crafted. BERENIK clothing could be purchased in a separate section of the store front.

New items introduced for the brand this season included underwear, swimwear, leggings, rain jackets and rain pants. Key fabrics used were linen, cotton, silk, cupro, rayon and a functional outwear fabric, which lent a high tech touch. For the fifth season in a row, the brand’s styling team included makeup artistry by NU EVOLUTION and hair looks created by Prive By Laurent D.
