Exclusive: Andrew Koji Talks ‘Warrior’ Season 2 [Video]

In addition to reviewing season 2, I had the fortunate opportunity to talk with Andrew Koji about “Warrior” season 2.

Andrew Koji plays Ah Sahm, the lead in Warrior, a Chinese immigrant who travels to San Fransisco to find his sister, only to become a hitman for the Hop Wei Tong, getting caught up in the Tong gang wars. In the interview, we discussed Andrew Koji’s preparation for his fight scenes and choreography. He addressed how his character’s psychology and personality was incorporated into the choreography, and how he appreciated the opportunity for more freedom going into season 2.

Additionally, we spoke about how Bruce Lee influenced Koji’s performance. Not only were some of Koji’s action scenes inspired by his films, such as in Fist of Fury, but he also discussed how he studied some of Bruce Lee’s interviews to gauge his performance. Most notably, a key source of study was Bruce Lee’s 1971 interview on the Pierre Berton Show.

We also spent some time chatting about movies, tv shows, and COVID life, so if you want to skip straight to the discussion on Warrior, go to timecode 5:47.

Warrior Season 2 will have its premier on October 2nd on Cinemax at 10:00 pm EST.
