On The Scene: ‘AIR’ by Marcel Ostertag Spring 2017 Presentation

There is always a need to take a step back and enjoy the fruits of life that are present throughout the day. Marcel Ostertag was able to bring the sensation of freely living through his harmonious presentation titled “AIR”. This spring/summer 17 collection highlighted all the characteristics of beautiful women with his garments showing off natural curves and skin in a pleasingly subtle fashion. Presenting the beauty of women with flowy, transparent tops and dress while also keeping it classy with beautiful silk trenches, a classic varsity sweater and lightweight bombers. Silks and soft cottons graced the body of each model, utilizing a color scheme of: nature green, light pink, sky blue, black and an enticing, transparent nude fabric. The color palette used for this collection Each piece was made with lightweight fabrics and offered much diversity in the styles that could be worn. Marcel successfully brought life under the sky to life with a shiny, silk, sky blue trench that displays a graphic photo of a white horse, and even his dresses and bombers patterned with clouds in the sky.

As soon as you walked in the venue you were immediately struck by the striking, yet simple layout, which was slightly dark with a subtle blue light revealing multiple yellow DHL packaging on every guest’s seat. The runway set up allowed for the models to walk all around the crowd, with bright runway lights showing every detail of the pieces. The vibe was very airy and appeared much more spacious than the actual bare space the show was held in. For the presentation Marcel partnered with logistics company, DHL, who provided the outer covering for the “AIR” spring/summer 2017 lookbook by Kristian Schuller. The DHL packaging was a very unique representation of providing a shipping folder specific to NYFW. Even backstage the DHL logo was plastered everywhere and a beautiful model wore a head-to-toe DHL logo patterned dress and lightweight jacket while standing next to a stack of DHL boxes. I really enjoyed the partnership, branding and execution between Marcel Ostertag and DHL, who both provided a visually pleasing experience for show attendees.
