Actress Toni Trucks Talks ‘Grimm’

Toni Trucks is an actress, known for Ruby Sparks (2012), The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2 (2012) and Music and Lyrics (2007).

She also starred in Franklin & Bash and Hostages. We caught up with her at the New York premiere of Mr. Holmes.

What was it like to work on Grimm?

Being on Grimm has been a positive experience, you know first coming in as a guest star then graduating to more of a recurring role has been beautiful, and honestly I can say without hesitation that the cast of Grimm is the nicest cast in Hollywood for sure. I think it’s partly because they’re just incredible people and partly because they film in Portland and everything is just peaceful. They’re eating good food, it’s very green.

What are your first memories of Sherlock Holmes?

PBS versions and masterpiece classics versions of that. I am a giant fan of costume dramas in any way. And of course being a lady of color it’s really difficult to find lovely roles … except for Belle. Otherwise you’re maids, slaves la di da di da. Of course that’s the genre that I would love the most. So I love getting transported into costume dramas.

Now there is more diversity on stage!

That is right, there is so much diversity. I’m very grateful to live in the time that I’m living in. I feel like there is a turn happening and hopefully I’m sitting front row to it.

What brings you to New York?

Actually I was in LA all summer, but I came to New York for my cousin’s bachelorette party. I’m in charge of all of the events for the event. Three days of craziness, Friday we’re going on our 1980’s themed roller disco.
