On Tuesday June 12th, Action Bronson, acclaimed VICE TV personality, chef and rapper hosted and performed at the Olmeca Altos J. Hernandez And Sons Bodega Pop Up in Brooklyn, New York.

Featuring local food, music and 100% hand-cut, Mexican blue agave tequila, the brand has appeared in Los Angeles, Denver, Austin, and Nashville before coming to New York, right before making its final stop in Chicago. Those fortunate to attend the early VIP session were given with a cocktail-making course taught by co-creator and master mixologist Dre Massad, who launched Altos Tequila in Europe back in 2009.  Participants learned how to make a sugary-yet-spicy Alto Tequila mix as well as a refined champagne margarita.

Throughout the night, guests sipped speciality cocktails including the Charred Pineapple Swizzle made with Altos Plata, lime juice, charred pineapple, honey and coconut Angostura Bitter, Spicy Paloma made with Altos Plata and citrus shaken with a Mexican pepper reduction and grapefruit zest, topped with soda as well as the Salted Pretzel Old Fashioned made from Altos Reposado, pretzel cordial and spiced mustard bitters.

Light bites included Brooklyn based Roberta’s famous margherita pizza with tomato, mozzarella, and basil, lardo taco with roasted pineapple, cilantro, and serrano chile and green tomato crouton, basil, and cilantro.

Henry Besant and Dre Masso both got their starts in the bartending industry, working their way to the top and winning awards with every step. After noticing a gap in the tequila market, Henry and Dre partnered with Maestro Tequilero Jesús Hernandez to create high-quality tequila that captured the authenticity of agave distillation, but also make it accessible to tequila fans from all over. The result- Altos Tequila, a tequila created by bartenders for bartenders.
