A Preview Dinner at Areppas in Gramercy

Areppas, the Venezuela casual restaurant, opened its new Gramercy location on Tuesday September 24th.  It is located at 115 East 23rd Street. The new Gramercy location is 2,240-square feet, with 40 seats and will be open Monday-Friday 10:30am-10:00pm.

This is the second location of the fast-casual Venezuelan eatery that has a flagship location at 954 3rd Avenue.  They are also planning to open a third location in SoHo next month.

All of them serve authentic Venezuelan dishes in quick and healthy options. Bowls, salads and arepas are the bases to choose from. After selecting one of those, people can choose a protein such as chicken, short rib, pork or vegan. The next station is to select cheese, toppings and sauces that give the final touch.

They also offer cachapas, tequenos and empanadas. All of them are absolutely delicious and made in a traditional Venezuelan way. The tequenos and empanadas are fried, but worth the extra calories. Their tequenos are definitely one of the best in New York City.

There are a couple of things that stand out from other Venezuelan restaurants. Areppas has a clean modern design, a wonderful socially conscious program, and a smart menu that incorporates healthy ingredients.

The husband and wife duo that created Areppas, has really mastered the way of providing extremely tasty food while adapting to its community’s needs. Nowadays New Yorkers are looking for healthy alternatives and are more conscious of how responsible the business is. The fact that Areppas has committed to partnering with Friends of Fe & Alegria to help feed children in Latin America is commendable.

This location will definitely be a neighborhood favorite. Whether people are looking for a quick lunch, healthy dinner, or an indulging snack, this is certainly the place to go to.
