The film festival is back for its 25th year and better than ever!
Breathe, starring Academy Award-nominated actor Andrew Garfield and Golden Globe-winning actress Claire Foy, will be the five-day festival’s Sunday Centerpiece. It follows an inspiring, true love story in the face of devastating disease. This film is just one of several star-studded masterpieces that will be screened at the festival in East Hampton.
“Celebrating a quarter century of bringing international films and filmmakers to the East End, HIFF is thrilled to announce the unique and dynamic voices that will be presented for our anniversary edition,” said Hamptons International Film Festival Executive Director Anne Chaisson. “David [Nugent] and our programming team have worked tirelessly to select this year’s best.”
Other films chosen in this year’s lineup include LBJ, starring Academy Award-nominee Woody Harrelson as President Lyndon Johnson, After Louie, starring Broadway legend Alan Cumming, The Yellow Birds, starring Golden Globe-winner Jennifer Aniston, and The Square, starring Elizabeth Moss.
“This first group of films display works that both explore the complexities of our world and some of the challenges we face, while also highlighting the resilience of the human spirit in facing such adversity,” said Hamptons International Film Festival Artistic Director David Nugent.
The event will also honor Academy Award-winning actress Julie Andrews with a special Lifetime Achievement Award and will feature a post-screening conversation with Julie Andrews and Alec Baldwin on October 7.
