Some were hits, others were misses on the runway at the Yuna Yang fashion show on September 10, which was held at 3 West Club and titled “The 100% Perfect Girl.”
Flowers adorned both the runway and Yuna Yang’s designs at her Spring/Summer 2016 RTW fashion show on September 10 in New York City. One can never go wrong with a floral print, especially during spring and summer, but Yang’s designs felt generally overworked despite some great pieces that walked down the runway.
Though Yang’s color palate of blacks, whites, golds, lavenders, and pinks was fresh and cohesive, her choice of sheer fabrics to layer over more basic designs felt stiff and lacked movement on the runway. Her styling didn’t help, as the clearly synthetic dyed wigs didn’t help the collection’s overall “starchy” feel.
Where Yang succeeded was in her trench coats and dresses, with favorites being the sheer black and lavender trench coats as well as the gold and pink long-sleeved wrap dresses. Yuna Yang’s whimsical and fun aesthetic is always a pleasure to watch walk down the runway, but this collection unfortunately missed the mark.
