‘The Oscars of Fashion’ took place in New York Hammerstein Ballroom.
Each year, the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) honors the best designers worldwide with the awards that are considered the highest achievement in the fashion industry. This year, for the first time, the ceremony was held in the Hammerstein Ballroom, after seven years at Alice Tully Hall in Lincoln Center.
Joel HcHale (Community) hosted the event wearing David Hart suit. Traditionally, the designers arrived to the red carpet accompanied by their muses: Stuart Weitzman brought Ciara, Dwyane Wade, who wore Public School and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley who showed up alongside Michael Kors.
In addition to the award ceremony, the event included tributes to David Bowie and Prince. Michael C. Hall performed Bowie’s “Changes,” and Jennifer Hudson closed the show with renditions of “When Doves Cry” and “The Beautiful Ones.”
The most important award of the night, The Fashion Icon Award, was speculated to go to First Lady, Michelle Obama. However, it eventually landed in the hands of Queen Bey.
