Wargasm Plays at The Echo in LA

The UK Duo, Wargasm, brought a very energetic set to Echo Park’s The Echo in Los Angeles last Monday.

Led by the very unique Sam Matlock and Milkie Way, this new group is not someone you want to miss. While their exact style of music is hard to describe They say their main influences are a mix of pop (Lady Gaga, Missy Elliot), and a little bit of hard rock (Limp Bizkit, Lipkin Park, Slipknot).

The difference between Wargasm and other heavy metal groups is the fact that their music isn’t just loud noises. Their intriguing melodies mix with the upfront presence of their vocals accompanied by screeching guitar and pounding drums. Most importably, it’s music you find yourself nodding your head to.

At the set, songs like “Salma Hayek”, “Spit” and their newest single “D.R.I.L.D.O” were played and mosh pits were formed as everyone in the venue was having a lot of fun. The fans were arguably more fun than the music itself since no one seemed upset, yet they were all living together in the moment, listening to this new up and coming music act they one day might see at the Grammy’s.

Even as someone who isn’t the biggest fan of the genre, each song had my leg bouncing to the music and saw their pop influences being able to help their music some day make it to the radio. Give them a listen next time you want to throw your head back and forth and I promise you won’t be disappointed.

Wargasm’s debut full-length release, Explicit: The Mixxxtape, is planned for summer 2022.
