Vivi Zubedi: NYFW 2018

Vivi Zubedi brought her signature take on modest wear to New York Fashion Week 2018.

The designer, originally from Indonesia, added sassy and bold embellishments to traditional Muslim pieces. She combined elements of sportswear, like baseball caps, with hijabs and abayas. She also brought rich velvets and brightly dotted fabrics to the traditional clothes. Says the brand of the collection, which was entitled Urang Banua, “[it] was originally crafted as a cultural statement for quality of life and economic welfare of weavers and fabric artisans in the area of South Kalimantan.”
