Virgil Abloh Might Be Givenchy’s New Creative Director

After Riccardo Tisci departed from the french fashion house Givenchy, there are speculations of who is going to take on the role next. Few names were being considered as his possible replacement. Designers Hedi Slimane, Clare Waight Keller, and Balmain’s Olivier Rousteing are all up for consideration along with Virgil Abloh.

According to WWD, sources say the Off-White founder is being considered to replace Tisci as Givenchy’s creative director. The French fashion house is reportedly in talks with him to take on the position, but the parties have neither confirmed nor denied the reports.

When asked about the rumor, Virgil Abloh expressed his love for bringing something fresh to the fashion industry “My trajectory is to update and provide something new in the fashion industry by way of creating a project and using it as a case study on how to update a luxury house,” he told WWD.

Virgil Abloh’s rise to success is no mystery. The tastemaker giant was known for being Kanye West’s creative director in the past who then took home even a bigger win when he launched his brand Off-White. Ever since, he has received a world wide recognition and respect for being one of the most popular luxury streetwear names right now. Some of the other names on that list might have a lot more years of experience under their belt but it all comes down to the direction Givenchy plans to take now.
