For the second year in a row, American Express has teamed up with Venus Williams for a two-part social content series.
The playful videos show Williams, a four-time US Open Champion, preparing for the final Grand Slam of the year. In the clips, Williams can be seen sporting new pieces from Epiphany, which is part of her Fall/Winter 2017 EleVen by Venus Williams activewear line. The series also explores how Williams has taken the lessons she has learned on the court and carried them into her life.
“American Express has been a wonderful collaborator in bringing this one-of-a-kind experience to life and allowing me to share my journey both as a player and entrepreneur,” Williams said. “Competing at the US Open is always so thrilling, and I’m honored to share that excitement with the fans in such a new and unique way.”
Additionally, American Express will be introducing American Express Air Tennis, which uses custom-built and responsive technologies to build an interactive, live gaming experience. Tennis fans can face off against an artificial intelligence tennis opponent and use their hands and body movements to return as many virtual tennis balls as possible. The coolest part? Players can even feel the impact of the ball on their hands thanks to a perfectly timed blast of air.
“We’re thrilled to continue our partnership with Venus Williams – a Card Member, champion and entrepreneur,” said Deborah Curtis, Vice President of Global Experiential Marketing and Partnerships at American Express. “From delivering a newly designed Card Member Club influenced by Venus herself to a multi-sensory tennis activation, we think that we are delivering services that will truly elevate the US Open experience.”
