[pre]Coterie is a seasonal fashion trade show held by UBM Fashion, tailored to connect designers and retailers from around the world.
The Jacobs Javits Center was turned into an outlet mall featuring apparel from designers such as Cynthia Rowley, Jason Wu Grey, 360 Cashmere, and more; as well as beauty products from Makeup Eraser, Panty Fresh, and more. From unique vintage pieces to creations from Brazil and Columbia, fashions from all over the world existed under one roof for three days waiting to meet their new owners. At the center of it all were teepees, each decorated from the inside out, expressing different themes through butterfly’s.
In an interview with the man behind the teepees, experimental retail designer Valentino Vettori, we learn what each structure represents and how it relates to the fashion escapade. Vettori explains, “Every teepee carries an experience which is the future of retail. Retail is no longer about selling stuff,” he says, “ it’s about making memories. It’s like an exit through a gift shop.” This idea of retail being about memories became very clear while walking past each flawlessly branded boutique, each representing a different passion for beauty and couture.
If you weren’t able to make [pre]Coterie this time around, fret not. The event will back during July 22nd through 24th, this time for both men and women.
