Tristan Mack Wilds Talks His Role In New Peacock Film ‘Praise This’

The Peacock original film Praise This includes a star-studded cast with singer Chloe Bailey as it’s leading lady. Praise This follows a young, troubled Sam (Chloe Bailey) as she is sent to live with her eccentric cousin Jess (Anjelika Washington) in Atlanta. While trying to adjust to her new normal, Sam learns about Jess’s favorite past time: singing in her church’s praise team.

Comedian Druski, rapper Quavo and BET’s Sistas star Crystal Renee Hayslett are a few of the standout performances in the film. There’s comedy, drama, romance and a whole lot of singing.  What more could you ask for in a musical comedy?

Hayslett plays Natalie, P.G.’s wife and the church’s First Lady. And the pastor of this church is played by none other than Tristan Mack Wilds but goes by P.G. (Pastor Goodman) in the film. A newly devoted Christian with a rough past, P.G. doesn’t let his unconventional appearance (P.G. is covered in tattoos from the neck down) nor the opinions of society stop him from serving his community.

Tristan has graced the screen in a number of films and TV shows including his most well-known role as Dixon in the CW’s teen drama 90210. From having a recurring role in HBO’s The Wire to appearing alongside Adele in the music video for her 2015 hit “Hello”, Tristan’s career has taken him to places one could only dream of going.

We sat down with Tristan to talk more about his character, what it was like filming in Atlanta and which late rapper helped him channel his inner pastor.
