Tracy Reese Presents Spring/Summer 2016 Collection

Tracy Reese debuted her spring/summer 2016 collection at ArtBeam during New York Fashion Week.

Focusing on Illumination, Transparency, Organic Structure, and Shine Tracy Reese gave layers, dimension, and contrast. Pairing beautifully dark music with beautifully bright lights. As well as, fusing sexy with sweet and edgy with feminine. Reese played with hemlines and fluid silhouettes.  As well as lace, sequence, and of course color.  Using shocking pink, orange, yellow, aqua, & honeydew green. Overall, Reese offers the quintessential spring must haves for the bold, the cool, and the girl that’s ready to let her inner self shine. But no sparkling beauty is complete without the shoes to match. Reese’s footwear was equally exciting, as she debuted her collaboration with Sarah Jessica Parker. Featuring point-toe booties, in soft blue, glittery silver, sparkling pinks, and clear.

Parker join Reese backstage post-show raving calling the collection “breathtaking” and telling Reese she was “blown away”.

Other noted guest: Andre Leon Talley, June Ambrose, Ty Hunter, Fern Mallis, Jacque Reid, Tinashe, and Constance White.

We got to chat a bit with Reese.   As well as with key hair stylist Bok-Hee, Shea Moisture’s Brand Ambassador Diane Bailey, and key makeup artist for Mary Kay, Deanna Melluso.  See what they all had to say below.

Tracy Reese

On the shoe collaboration with Sarah Jessica Parker – There were many talks about the possibilities and this season was the perfect time to do it.   We are of like minds when it comes to color, shimmer, and all the fun things we love. It was just the perfect moment for us to come together and create something fun and very complimentary with the clothes.

On inspiration & the collection – The inspiration was illumination, transparency, structure, and shine, those were the high notes. From there its like how do we wear these clothes?  How do we incorporate them into real life?  That’s where the silhouette came in where we were moving away from the body and making all these things that are normally really special feel more relaxed and casual. The designs are for no one person. I design for many different woman and all different types of women can wear my clothes. It’s an attitude, someone who likes to feel beautiful, loves color, is optimistic and isn’t afraid of patterns.

Bok-Hee – Key Hair Stylist for Shea Moisture

On the runway look – The look I saw on this girl looks like she’s been out in the desert. The hair is a little bit like transparent in the front. It’s very messy but has some glitz as well. To get that messy look we used the flat iron just a bit and then we brushed it out. To make it a little bit more defined we use the curling iron. In the back we did a low ponytail and then we just twisted it up and pined it down. Then we tweaked it just to make it softer and more beautiful.

Diane Bailey – Shea Moisture’s Brand Ambassador

On the products use to achieve the look – BokHee had the vision that I think is free spirited free and romantic. We used Shea Moisture Professional Finish Blow Dry Cream. This gives your hair texture but also makes it a lot smoother and easier. For the front we wanted that whimsical look so we use the Fruit Fusion Coconut Water Weightless Styling Mousse. It was a nice collaboration to use these products together to allow the hair to be free yet still have some structure, but not too much.

On what to use for the approaching Fall Season – Our Jamaican Black Castor Oil Line is great for the fall/winter. It has peppermint oil that invigorates the scalp and helps to stimulate growth and it is one of my favorite lines.  We also have an all-new professional line for stylist sold exclusively at Sally’s Beauty Supply.

• SheaMoisture Professional Finish Blow Dry Cream – $19.99

• SheaMoisture Professional Vibrant Color Shine Glaze – $19.99

• SheaMoisture Fruit Fusion Coconut Water Weightless Texture Spray – $10.99

• SheaMoisture Coconut & Hibiscus Hold & Shine Moisture Mist – $9.99

Deanna Melluso – Key Makeup Artist for Mary Kay

On the makeup look – The inspiration was illumination, shine and being the girl you are. We wanted to get that by showing the skin and by bringing a flush look to the face. We made that with Mark Kay At Play Lip & Cheek Stick in Peach Pop color for fair skin and Razzleberry color for dark skin. We added a little lip shine with Mary Kay’s True Dimensions Sizzling Red. It’s really a beautiful look and very effortless. We prepped the skin with Mary Kay mask and we also did a Mary Kay Satin Lip Mask, which basically takes all the dead skin away. We exfoliated the skin after that we use Mary Kay Timewise moisturizer which is a really thick moisturizer with vitamin E oil and we mixed it with the Mary Kay Time Wise Luminous-Wear Liquid Foundation.
