Tracy Morgan Celebrates Season Two of ‘The Last OG’ With Brooklyn Garden Party

Tracy Morgan returned home to Brooklyn yesterday (March 28th), to celebrate the upcoming season two premiere of his TBS series The Last OG. Morgan and TBS partnered with Bedford Stuyvesant’s Hattie Carthan Community Garden, City Harvest, Grow NYC, Feeding America, Drive Change NYC and Trellis to host a special garden party to bring awareness for the need for community gardens and green spaces in urban communities throughout New York City.

Alongside Morgan stood his wife Megan, his daughter, City Councilman Robert E. Cornegy Jr., and Yonette Fleming (V.P. of the Hattie Carthan Community Garden) who addressed those in attendance. Fleming specifically expressed the connection between the Hattie Carthan Community Garden and how its roots are grounded in African ancestry. Artist Tiffany B. Chanel helped capture the essence of the garden’s ancestral spirit through visual art creating a mural depicting Hattie Carthan blended with colors and logos representative of The Last OG show. Music was provided by DJ Neza.

Award-winning Chef JJ. Johnson was on hand to present a cooking demonstration showing how to make coleslaw with a unique fruity twist. Johnson also whipped up two varieties of gumbo, one inspired by Bed Stuy and another a vegan version for attendees to taste along with grilled potato salad, and pork shoulder sandwiches.

At the event, youth video journalists from Trellis a community organization which is committed to helping neighborhoods address and fight injustices through collaborative efforts were presented with new video cameras from TBS.

Season Two of The Last OG will premiere on TBS on April 2nd. You can also see Morgan on current episodes of Jordan Peele’s The Twilight Zone reboot series on CBS All Access.
