Tom Brady, Jane Fonda, and Cast Celebrate New Film ’80 For Brady’

80 For Brady, a tale of four best friends with a mission to travel to the Super Bowl and cheer on their favorite player, Tom Brady.  There is a caveat however, those four best friends are all around the age of eighty, and along the way, struggles accompany the adventure.

The stars of the film are all considered to be the “Greatest Of All Time” in each of their own regard. Featuring Jane Fonda as “Trish,” Lily Tomlin as “Lou,” Rita Morena as “Maura,” Sally Field as “Betty,” and of course, Tom Brady as himself and a Producer.

I had the pleasure of working the carpet and interviewing the cast and crew of 80 For Brady, which was monumental for many reasons. One being, it was Tom Brady’s debut as a feature film Producer. And the Los Angeles crowd definitely welcomed TB12 as he joined the cast on the carpet.

You could feel the experience amongst the cast. As Jane Fonda stepped out of her car, the crowds went wild! She immediately made her way over to some fans to sign autographs. Each of the protagonists spent time on the carpet and kept a calm demeanor, despite how packed the theater was in preparation for the film.

The original story is based on five women, not four, but after one of the women passed away, the movie was created around four women instead. I asked Lily Tomlin who she would like the fifth member to be if the movie had a fifth woman, and she smiled while saying, “Dolly [Parton].” Tomlin then added that Dolly’s basically a part of the movie because she’s on the song, “Gonna Be You.” The song also features another stellar group of women with Belinda Carlisle, Cyndi Lauper, Gloria Estefan and Debbie Harry and written by Diane Warren.

When I asked any of the crew and supporting actors about working with the four women and Brady, there was one common factor, “professionalism.” Harry Hamlin who plays “Dan,” Fonda’s love interest, said the note he took from working closely with the two-time Academy Award winner was how professional she was. Executive Producer, Mike Covino, pointed out that the seven-time Super Bowl Champion, “brings an amazing energy, and focus, and intensity to everything that he does.”

80 For Brady hits theaters Feb. 3
