Exclusive: Tia Mowry Talks Her New Cookbook, Wellness & Partnership with LACTAID [Video]

Tia Mowry spoke to The Knockturnal about her partnership with LACTAID, her upcoming projects and being a mom.

The ‘Sister, Sister’ star gushed about LACTAID, which is 100% real milk without the lactose, and fun recipes she makes for herself and her family, who have an intolerance to lactose.

Sitting in her kitchen, Tia showed off her overnight oats in the shape of Elmo with fruit, which she said is one of her family’s favorite recipes.

“My family, including myself, have a lactose sensitivity, but one thing I love about LACTAID is it allows you to enjoy the benefits of real milk – the creaminess, the texture, and just the flavor that milk has to offer,” she said.

Tia is coming out with a cookbook and says she is able to enjoy her favorite indulgences, like ice cream, milk and cookies, and smoothies because of LACTAID.

“The way I come up with recipes is just whatever I’m inspired by. I’m inspired by so many things I see from my peers, or on Instagram. Also what I love to eat and what my children love to eat. I’m also inspired by my life, meaning I’m a very busy, working mom. So the dishes that I make for my family have to be quick, easy, practical, but we’re also about health and wellness so we want to make sure a lot of the ingredients are whole food,” she said.

Tia has been busy at work with her show Netflix’s ‘Family Reunion’.

“We just aired our first part of our second season two months ago! The third part should be coming out I believe this summer. But I’m having so much fun on the show. I love doing family shows, I love working with kids because it kind of reminds me of how I grew up. And even though I play a mom to these kids, I feel like I’m so protective over them, I act like their mom on set,” she said. “But it’s so much fun on that show. That character is the closest to who I am in real life because I consider myself a fun mom!”

Tia did the “big chop” at the beginning of 2020 and cut a lot of her hair off as the start of her natural hair journey.

“I love a journey. I love a process. I’m obsessed with that and that’s how I feel like it was with my hair,” she said. “It was a little shocking at first because you’re not used to it and not even used to doing your hair that way. But just nurturing it and seeing it grow and seeing your curls have more volume and more bounce, I enjoy that process. It teaches you about patience as well!

“So I think it’s cool, I think it’s great and to do something different and new is always exciting!”
