The Wythe Hotel Collaborates With TREVORSHAUS To Present Permanent Water

It was a ball of vibrant energy at The Wythe Hotel as they kicked off pride festivities in collaboration with TREVORSHAUS for the Permanent Water event. This gathering not only celebrated Brooklyn’s LGBTQ+ and creatives, but a portion of the ticket proceeds went towards immigrant equality which advocates for and represents LGBTQ+ and HIV-positive immigrants seeking safety, fair treatment, and freedom.

The night entailed a one-night-only performance from an array of artists that include BMAJR, Magnolia Polaris, Guido, Gallexii, Rafia, Bri Blvck, crazyexgalpal, Venïson Man, Precious Okoyomon, along with a few surprise guests. There was also an astrology reading station, a massage table, genderless makeup by Fluide, and even a lookbook called Transformation by Frankie Wiener, a Brooklyn based genderqueer trans photographer.

In addition to this wonderful evening, the Wythe Hotel partnered with artist Jack Early, who was set to display his latest work entitled Jacksicles on June 25th. Jacksicles combines Early’s signature American pop culture themes with his experience growing up as a gay man in the South. As a young gay man, Early had a family friend who he refers to as his second mother. He says: “She was black, I was a gay boy. We had an unspoken understanding for each other and we knew we both were navigating in a world that was not really built for us. We knew this truth together and we loved each other and looked after each other. She gave me a lot of faith in how to love the people that just did not know any better and she used to dish out the Popsicles.”

The installation is a testament to Wythe Hotel’s dedication to Brooklyn and its vibrant and creative community and will be on display through October.
