‘The Sun is Also a Star’ Begins Production

Yara Shahidi (“Black-ish”) and Charles Melton (“Riverdale”) star in new film set to ppremiereMay 17, 2019.

Warner Brothers just announced the start of production on the film The Sun is Also a Star, the second novel turned film by author, Nicola Yoon. The Sun is Also a Star has been on the New York Times bestseller list since its release, and has received multiple accolades, including 2016 National Book Award Finalist, Amazon’s Best Book of 2016 in YA, and Entertainment Weekly’s 10 Best Books of 2016.

When asked about turning The Sun is Also a Star into a film Yoon said, “I’m beyond thrilled this movie is being made! This book is deeply personal to me and Yara and Charles are the perfect choice to bring Natasha and Daniel’s story to life on the big screen”.

The film follows Jamaican born Natasha Kinglsey (Yara Shahidi) and college bound romantic Daniel Bae (Charles Melton), who are brought together by fate in this modern love story. With Natasha’s family fighting deportation and the pressures of a new budding relationship, will fate and destiny be enough to keep these two together? Find out next May.
