The New Face of Mindfulness is Black & Lit – Zentola & The Sound Bowlettes Bring Sound Healing to Los Angeles

The Black Sound Healer Summit at The Los Angeles County Arboretum

Beneath the warm embrace of the setting sun at the Los Angeles Arboretum and Botanic Garden, a transformative gathering of individuals dedicated to wellness, community, and the power of sound took place.

The inaugural Black Sound Healer Summit, curated by the renowned meditational leader and author Zentola, was an extraordinary celebration of Black culture, mindfulness, and the healing art of sound. The Black Sound Healer Summit seeks to elevate the well-being of its participants while shining a spotlight on the important work of Black sound healers. This unique event offered a remarkable opportunity to embark on a journey of self-discovery and communal connection.

Zentola, a meditational leader, energy master, and author of the widely acclaimed “ZenergyMe Journal – Mindful Exercises to Manifest Energy,” has made it his life’s work to teach mindfulness and meditation within communities of color. His commitment to spreading positivity and healing extends far beyond the boundaries of a traditional meditation practice. “We are the change, and our collective energy has the power to heal and elevate. The 2023 Black Sound Healer Summit is where it all begins,” Zentola said.

Zentola, along with his talented group known as “The Sound Bowlettes,” created a multi-sensory experience that stimulates the five senses – sight, sound, taste, smell, and touch. Through the use of cued lighting, sound baths, aromatic teas, incense, and powerful vibrations, participants embarked on a mindfulness journey that engaged every aspect of their being. Zentola and The Sound Bowlettes travel nationwide to cultivate high-energy experiences rooted in meditation, breathwork, and sound healing. At the Charles H Hickey Jr. School, an all-male detention center, Zentola conducts sound baths and guided meditations for young men and staff, offering a path to healing and self-discovery in what can be challenging circumstances.

Furthermore, Zentola’s dedication to the next generation is evident through his affirmation series, titled the “I AM pledge.” This powerful series is recited daily in over 35 schools in Baltimore and Compton, CA, imparting mindfulness, and positivity to young minds, setting them on a path of self-confidence and self-awareness. In the words of Zentola, “we need to shine a light on the important work Black sound healers are doing to uplift our communities. I see the shift, and us coming together for the Black Sound Healer Summit will only amplify the energy and this healing movement.”
