The McKittrick Hotel’s Gallow Green Hosts Their Annual Herb Festival On 4/20

What better way to spend 4/20 than on a rooftop restaurant enjoying delicious food and drinks?

Last week, The McKittrick Hotel hosted a chic event in celebration of 4/20.  The annual Herb Festival was hosted on the rooftop garden bar and restaurant, Gallow Green and launched the new menu of seasonal drinks and food.  Gallow Green, surrounded by flowers, vines, and other foliage, was the perfect setting for the Herb Festival.  As guests walked into the rooftop garden, they were met with a choice of wine or champagne to welcome them to the experience.  As the night progressed, a variety of food samples, one of which was our favorite being the vegan ceviche.  Each guest was also given food and drink tickets where they can try some of the new menu offerings crafted by Executive Chef, Pascal Le Seac’h.  These offerings included a taco bar where guests could create their own tacos, a slider station paired with crisp fries, and the option of having fresh calamari or decadent cheese curds that ooze with the first bite.  The specialty cocktail featured during this festival was the Gallow Green classic, Sleep No More.  Made with pea flower-infused vodka, elderflower, and rose cider, this gorgeous lavender colored drink was delightful and refreshing with prominent notes of the elderflower coming through with each sip.

Some of the new menu highlights include a newtTaco selection with chicken, steak, carnitas, shrimp, or cacti on corn tortillas made fresh in-house.  There is also a grilled Scottish salmon on a bed of Bibb lettuce with seasonal vegetables and rosé cava dressing. Heartier dishes include an Angus Flat Iron Steak, served with silky pink peppercorn sauce, and signature Cheeseburger made with a special blend of DeBragga steak, bacon marmalade, and pickles. Extra crispy French Fries with a kick of Aleppo pepper seasoning accompany both.  Chilled Raw Bar selections, gorgeously presented Crudité, a Saxelby Cheese Plate, lightly fried Calamari, and decadent desserts provide the perfect start and finish to any meal.

Guests can sip on hand-crafted cocktails inspired by the hotel and its residents, like the Sleep No More mentioned above or try some other cocktails like the Gallow Green (bourbon, blue curaçao, citrus, and ginger) and World’s Fair (matcha-infused mezcal and cucumber). Wine by the glass or bottle, local beer, and seasonal ciders are also available.

Tickets per seating (both at 5pm and 7:30 pm) were $60 per person for the two hour seating.  It was the perfect experience worth every penny especially since the weather was the ideal temperature.  But another great aspect of Gallow Green is that if guests ended up feeling a bit cold, there was a beautiful fireplace to cozy up to that warms you right up.  Gallow Green is open daily from 5PM for dinner and drinks. Visit www.mckittrickhotel.com/gallow-green for menus, reservations, or to customize a private gathering.
