The Macallan Celebrates The Harmony Collection ‘Smooth Arabica’ at Mirate Restaurant

The Macallan, known for its outstanding quality, distinctive character, and reputation for the extraordinary has fused its innovative techniques with materials from the natural world to create The Harmony Collection.

The second edition in The Macallan’s limited annual release series is the ‘Smooth Arabica,’ a special single malt whisky exuding flavors of ground coffee, hazelnut, and vanilla providing a delightful pairing of coffee and whisky which come through at an ABV of 40%. The unique single malt was inspired by the Ethiopian Arabica bean, which is claimed to be the first species of coffee cultivated. “Exuding notes of ground coffee, hazelnuts, sweet raisin and vanilla, this special whisky will transport you into a world of flavor and texture, awakening all of your senses.” The limited release focuses on sustainability, with its ingenious packaging giving new life to coffee bean husks, a byproduct of coffee bean production that would have otherwise been discarded. The husks were incorporated in the creation of the presentation box and label which is made from recycled and repurposed material.

In celebration of The Macallan Harmony Collection ‘Smooth Arabica’ guests were invited to embark on a journey through the worlds of coffee and whisky with a guided tasting ritual. The celebratory evening was held at the luxurious, multi-story treehouse restaurant, Mirate in Los Angeles. Attendees were invited to mix and mingle while enjoying complimentary libations at the bar such as the Eclipse Highball consisting of The Macallan Quest Collection, hibiscus, saline, soda, and mint as well as the Rolling Hills made with The Macallan Lumina, yolixpa teepak, fernet valet and grapefruit oil. Guests were then ushered into a connecting room to begin an intimate tasting of both coffee and whisky. Shortly after attendees were guided to the dining table to enjoy a four-course meal, coffee and whisky-infused dining experience. The menu consisted of callo de hacha paired with The Macallan Quest Collection Terra, Sonoma hen and pear parsnip soubise paired with The Macallan Quest Collection Enigma, beef short rib and kabocha squash paired with The Macallan Rare Cask Black and dark chocolate panna cotta, The Macallan white chocolate sorbet and nitro raspberries for dessert. The evening came to an end with a final cup of Sidama coffee and gifts bags courtesy of The Macallan. Smooth Arabica is currently available in The Macallan Airport Boutiques, key airports around the world and China Hainan Island duty free shops.
