They say that “behind every successful man is a woman” and that is definitely true for Elvis’ case.
The media world has long focused mostly on Elvis and this career, his journey and his thoughts, however, who’s the muse behind the notorious music? The movie Priscilla dives into the behind-the-scenes world of Priscilla Presley. It is transparent and authentic, as it explores the ups and downs of the pair’s tumultuous marriage.
And most importantly, the movie has been given the blessing of Priscilla herself, which speaks volumes.
Director Sophia Coppola was on a mission to create an aesthetically pleasing decades film, with a hard serving of honest pie, thanks to Priscilla’s vulnerability with sharing her intimate moments with Elvis.
When I asked lead actress Cailee Spaeny, who plays Priscilla, whether she felt a pressure for such a big and real-life portrayal and how she overcame it, she responded honestly saying, “it comes with its difficulties and benefits.”
The talented actress carefully listened to Priscilla in-person recalling her life events and Cailee believes: “It was like gold putting the puzzle pieces together.”
She stated selflessly: “I made this movie for her. I wanted her to feel safe and seen.” Priscilla’s Elvis in the movie is portrayed by Euphoria’s Jacob Elordi.
