We’re wearing all white and we don’t care when Labor Day is…
The famous Diner en Blanc is coming back to New York this September, bringing more fun and excitement than it did last year. With over 5000 people attending and having a wait list of over 45,000 people, the 6th Diner En Blanc is one of the most anticipated events happening in New York this year. With the Diner happening in 20 U.S cities and 70 total cities worldwide, this major culinary event pulls out all the stops. Guests wear fabulous all white fashion ensembles, fill their tables with delicious food and wine, and decorate their dining spaces with flowers, candles, and even caged white doves as their centerpieces.
This year the Diner will take place on September 15, having the location be a secret until the very last second. Guests meet in groups of between 100 and 300 people at the designated spots and follow group leaders to the secret location. Over the course of the evening, diners eat and celebrate this wondrous night with live music and dancing. And with this being an all white party, guests go out of their way to have their outfit stand out by styling themselves with fantastical hats, decorative masks, Marie Antoinette wigs, and even angel wings.
Linda Davis, the new co-host of Diner en Blanc New York, shared her thoughts on the event.
A: I’m thrilled to be one of the hosts of DEBNY16 along with Christine Tripoli Krische and Peter Kohlmann. My very first experience with Diner en Blanc was with the first US DEB in New York. It’s exciting to be behind the scene this time planning a great event for our guests.
What can attendees expect this year?
Attendees can expect to experience an evening of community togetherness where all walks of life come together for one moment to celebrate the city they live in. The experience is about sharing space, sharing food and wine, and sharing your story with perhaps a total stranger.
Q: What is your favorite element of Diner en Blanc?
A: The moment when our guests are all assembled and enjoying a beautiful meal in one of the city’s public spaces.
