The Creative Coalition hosted a “Perception Reception,” sponsored by Johnson & Johnson at Club Monaco, to focus “on the need for communities and school districts to embrace over-the-counter medicine safety curricula.”
Celebrities present included David Schwimmer (Friends), Elizabeth Banks (Pitch Perfect), Kevin McHale (Glee), Troian Bellisario (Pretty Little Liars), Dean Norris (Breaking Bad), Josh Gad (Book of Mormon), and Alison Pill (The Newsroom).
Tim Daly (Madam Secretary), president of The Creative Coalition, kicked off the event, citing the group’s “obligation to use our unique voice to educate and inspire and motivate our audiences” in regards to arts advocacy and public arts education. Following him as speakers were Angela Gonzales, Associate Manager of Outreach and Communications for the American Association of Poison Control, and Dr. Ed Kuffner, Vice President Global Medical Affairs and Clinical Research for Johnson & Johnson.
The event briefed on the dangers of drug poisoning and medicine errors, emphasizing the importance of reading and following the label instructions on over-the-counter medication.
“There are programs to fight bullying, depression, drug and alcohol abuse, drinking and driving, but none to teach over-the-counter medication safety.”
