The Cleveland Cavilers Fire David Blatt

The Cleveland Cavilers fired David Blatt after just two seasons. Blatt has a coaching record of 83-40 and had taken the Cavs to the NBA Finals last season.

There has been controversy throughout the NBA. Rick Carlisle (Coach of the Dallas Mavericks) says, “David’s firing is embarrassing to the NBA”.

Truthfully, you have to give David Blatt credit. Although he didn’t win a championship his first year, his team competed in the finals without their All-Star guard Kyrie Irving. Cleveland’s offense was frequently stagnant and predicated to the maneuvers of LeBron James. However, Cleveland’s offense may have been more efficient if Irving was active due to his nifty ball handling and the ability to create his own shot.

Tonight against the Chicago Bulls the Cavs played up-tempo basketball. This allowed LeBron to dominate the game; he can start the break and find his teammates in transition. Also, Kevin Love seemed to be comfortable, he established his presences from the start of the game.

Unfortunately, the Bulls defense overshadowed Cleveland’s offense. The Bulls displayed resiliency, which led them to a 96-83 win on the road, also handing Cavs new Head Coach Tyronn Lue his first lost in his Coaching Debut.

The Cavs remain number one in the Eastern Conference Standings with the record of (30-11).

Lets see if Coach Lue can get his first win Monday, January 25th versus Minnesota Timberwolves at the Quicken Loans Arena.
