Backstage Beauty Report: Marcel Ostertag’s Fall 2016 Presentation

Marcel Ostertag’s Fall 2016 collection was shown at New York Fashion Week on February 11th.

Backstage, the makeup artists and hairdressers were beyond focused in their work for the show. Janell Geason, the head makeup artist, wanted to showcase the “beautiful, clean, dewy skin” of the models, allowing the faces to be enhanced by “tinted moisture.” The point of the look was to showcase the “luminosity” of the models faces, while utilizing an intense lip color as the accent piece. AVEDA was the exclusive makeup product of the Marcel Ostertag show, ranging from the natural looking foundation, to the intense lip colors Geason utilized.

Jon Reamon, the head hairstylist, also focused on a natural and simple look for the models hair. “Soft waves” were seen on almost every model, and before being sent on the runway, a bit of water would be misted into the models hair, to keep it looking “still wet” and in line with the Rain theme. Reamon’s team was working nonstop backstage, having two or more hairdressers with each girl, finishing up the look as quickly as possible. Many girls were also eating, or having their nails done during their hair sessions.
