Tina Tandon previewed her namesake T. Tandon F/W 17 collection in a private showing at the Waldorf Astoria.
Tandon has mixed different materials from jewels, beading, leather, and wool embroidery, so eloquently. Her ruffled leather pieces were a favorite of the night. It was all about the cut and details of the leather pieces that made the piece fly of the racks. Tandon sticks to one material, but her genius in cut and ruffle placement turn a simple piece into a runway outfit.
Her ball gowns were made for a woman with a tall silhouette. Tandon gave us three different ball gowns, to dress women who had different styles.
The jaw dropping piece of the collection was something you have to pay close attention to. Her ruffled leather skirts and jackets were hand-embroidered — two materials that don’t mix together often, but T. Tandon manages to make high fashion
Other leather stunners were the runner pants and jumpers. “Everyone is wearing gym clothes now. They want to be comfortable. I wanted to make gym clothes that were high fashion and sexy,” says Tandon, which she successfully achieves in this collection.
Tandon always thinks out of the box when designing her items. She’s not afraid to incorporate lifestyle into fashion, and leaps into experimenting with different styles, taking inspiration from anywhere she finds it.
Finally, Tandon adds volume to many of her items but delicately adding beading or jewels on to her many dresses.
