SZA Starts Something Priceless With MasterCard

The MasterCard House opened its doors to us this week and brought to light its inspiring “Start Something Priceless” campaign with SZA.

Knock attended many of this week’s MasterCard Grammy events, but the most moving and motivating one was by far the week’s first event, a panel with SZA and six developing artists participating in the Start Something Priceless campaign. The initiative motivates people to pursue their dreams and overcome adversity and challenge marginalization and stereotypes. MasterCard unveiled their new music video “Can’t Judge A Book” starring SZA and the 6 artists participating in the campaign.

The evening began with a Grammy Q&A with this year’s most nominated female artist, SZA! SZA opened up about her high school experiences and being bullied and always trying to stay authentic to herself. She also discussed her weight loss and how her unique style hasn’t changed, but rather media take more notice now that she’s lost weight. SZA discussed how excited she was to hear that Obama included her music in his favorites from 2017 and that being Grammy-nominated was an exciting experience.

Following SZA’s Q&A, Victoria Canal, one of the participants in the program took the stage to perform a medley of songs. After Victoria’s singing and piano performance, MasterCard showed a special screening of their all-new music video “Can’t Judge a Book” featuring SZA. Following the screening, the six talented artists introduced themselves and discussed their positive experiences with MasterCard’s “Start Something Priceless” program.
