To help kick off the upcoming I Love the 90’s tour, and celebrate the birthday of Cheryl James aka Salt from Salt N Pepa, SX Liquors hosted an intimate celebration last night (March 24th) at New York’s Living Room bar and lounge in the W Hotel Times Square.
Salt who turns 50 this month was joined by group member and friend Sandra “Pepa” Denton, as well as her family, friends, and media. Missing in attendance however was third Salt N Pepa member DJ Spinderella, however she was acknowledged and thanked for her contributions to the group by Salt, during a brief speech she gave about the longevity of the Grammy Award winning group. The group however did not give a musical performance during the evening and spent the night celebrating and reflecting on how far they’ve come in the music industry instead.
Carlos Bakery presented Salt with a special birthday cake at the event, while 90’s hip hop hits from the Notorious BIG and more played throughout the night.
The I Love the 90’s tour which will officially kickoff tonight (March 25th) in Charleston West, Virginia will include Salt N Pepa as headliners as well as other top 90’s acts such Vanilla Ice, Coolio, and Kid N Play.
