Summer Jam & Governors Ball in Review

Past weekend was marked with two biggest New York festivals of the season. Here’s what happened:

Whole of New York had been waiting impatiently for the first weekend of June to come. As per usual, audiences might have had a hard time choosing which of the two festivals to hit – with star-studded lineups and conflicting of Kanye West‘s scheduled Sunday Governors Ball performance with creme de la creme of the hip hop scene to appear at Summer Jam, the choice wasn’t easy.

Unfortunately, due to bad weather conditions, Governors Ball organizers decided to cancel the third and final day of the event. Kanye, however, made a surprise appearance at Summer Jam where he joined his G.O.O.D. Music family – Big Sean and Pusha T. This sort of made up for canceled performances by Chance The Rapper and Curren$y (also due to poor weather conditions).

Kanye tried to make up for his canceled GovBall performance with a 2:00am pop up show at Webster Hall. Again, performance was canceled after authorities announced that the crowd poses danger to the safety. Estimated 3,000-4,000 people flooded the streets outside the venue.

On the bright side, during the first two days of Governors Ball participant enjoyed performances by The Killers, The Strokes, Jamie XX, Miguel, M83 and many more.

Also the crowd at MetLife Stadium participating in annual Summer Jam wasn’t disappointed. A$AP Rocky & A$AP Ferg, Bryson Tiller, Travis Scott, Remy Ma & Ashanti, Future and DJ Khaled hit the stage and heated the crowd up through the rain.
