On The Scene: ‘Stuck’ New York Premiere

Earlier this week we attended the exclusive premiere screening of Stuck at Crosby Street Hotel in New York City.

Based off of the off-Broadway musical of the same name, Stuck is a musical that follows the interactions of 6 strangers stuck on a New York subway train during their daily commute. Directed by Michael Berry and co-written by Berry and Riley Thomas, Stuck stars Giancarlo Esposito as Lloyd, Arden Cho as Alicia, Amy Madigan as Sue, Ashanti as Eve, Omar Chaparro as Ramon and Gerard Canonico as Caleb. the film brings together 6 New Yorkers, all from distinct background who more often than not bump heads with one another on views such as racism, politics, immigration, sexism and abortion. These 6 characters share musical vignettes of their lives and daily traumas, all while trying to keep their sanity and make it to their destinations on time.

The screening was held at the Crosby Street Hotel, where most of the cast and creative/production team took to the red carpet before the screening. Following the screening an intimate Q&A was held with the cast. actors Arden Cho and Ashanti shared their experiences filming and how much they valued the project. The film’s producers and writers were asked about where the inspiration for certain characters or views were drawn from and it was revealed that for the topic of abortion, a panel of women who have experienced it were brought on to give their input. Post Q&A, the cast and guests retired to the reception area where they were served complimentary drinks and Hors d’oeuvres. Stuck premieres April 19th, make sure to check it out!
