Though it was raining, the talent of Broadway’s best was shining bright at United Airlines Stars in The Alley 2016, on June 3.
Hosted by Sean Hayes, who is currently starring in Act of God, and 25th Annual Putnam Spelling Bee’s Mo Rocca, Stars in The Alley brought hundreds of Broadway fans together to celebrate the 2015-2016 Broadway season. The first performance of the event was “Tradition”, sung by the incredible cast of Fiddler on the Roof, and led by Tony nominated Danny Burstein. The entire cast was filled with the audience’s energy and Shubert Alley was vibrating with applause at the end of the performance.
This energy continued into the following performances from Broadway shows, Matilda, Aladdin, Tuck Everlasting, Paramour, Fun Home, Shuffle Along, Waitress, The Color Purple, and the countless other showcases of the day. There were also exciting appearances by Rory O’Malley, from the cast of Hamilton, the women of Eclipsed, Reed Birney from The Humans, and John Gallagher Jr. with Michael Shannon from Long Day’s Journey Into Night.
Social media correspondents Alex Brightman and Sierra Boggess, from Andrew Lloyd Webber’s School of Rock, got the crowd going throughout the event, and cheered their fellow actors on during every single performance.
As the 70th annual Tony Awards approach, live on June 12th, Stars in The Alley allowed the Broadway shows of the season to perform in public before the big day. Be sure to watch the Tony awards to see your favorite actors and actresses perform, and be awarded for their hard work.
