Sonesta Hotel LAX Gets a $42 Million Facelift

Sonesta for a pre-flight siesta? Bon voyage!

I had the distinct pleasure of checking out the brand new luxe meets leisurely Sonesta Hotel post-facelift.

The LAX iteration of this consumer-friendly hotel empire just underwent a 42 million dollar renovation including a brand-new work suite and fitness center.

Redesigned guest rooms, a modernized lobby and 14,000 square ft of reimagined event space put the Sonesta a cut above neighboring hotels that rely on the captive audience that is LAX travelers to book rooms.

Sonesta’s obviously gone out of their way to stand out amongst the crowd. My favorite part of their extreme hotel makeover is four distinct updated dining venues – Yokoso Sushi Bar, Century Taproom & Lounge, The Landing Restaurant, and Boulevard Market Café.

I had about 48 of each of these:

PASSED APPS: Mini Rotisserie Chicken Pita with Garlic Sauce; Poke Nacho: Lobster Noodles; Flatbread Pizza

YOKOSO SUSHI BAR: Omakase Style-Sushi & Sashimi; Seafood Display w-Shrimp, Oysters, & Crab Claws; Sake Tasting

CENTURY TAP ROOM: Wagyu Beef Carved to Order; Thai Salad; Brussels Sprouts; Fried Mac & Cheese

My favorite cocktail of the night was Crimson Discovery, a drink of pomegranate grenadine and absinthe aimed at water signs like me. Pisces and pomegranate? Perfect pairing.

A self-care lounge treated me to a live astrology reading paired with take-home cards that explain what kind of traveler you are based on your sign. Mine couldn’t have been less correct but I respect the hustle.

I wrapped up my evening with a back cracking deep tissue massage that left me feeling warm. fuzzy and gelatinous. My second drink didn’t hurt either.

While I lost a raffle for free hotel stays in New York and Miami, I won the battle of ‘have a great time at Sonesta LAX.’

And that has made all the difference.
