This month, ASICS sent us a pair of their GEL-Kenun sneakers.
After a minor knee injury, my physical therapist recommended wearing ASICS sneakers. He said they provide great support and are extremely well made. I ended up going with the sixth version of the ASICS GT-1000 shoe and I loved them. When I heard ASICS recently released another sneaker — the GEL-Kenun, I was really excited to test them for myself. This shoe is meant for people who are constantly on their feet and very active. They are also well suited for those with under and neutral pronation. Pronation refers to the way your foot rolls inward for impact distribution upon landing.
Designed by Takayuki Ueda, the sneaker boasts a truly unique design and technology that is cirrus cloud inspired. Kenun is the Japanese word for that particular cloud. The sneaker is designed for you to feel like you are running on clouds and when your foot touches the ground you feel a super supportive bouncy cushion sensation. It absorbs some of the shock when your foot hits the ground. I enjoy taking long walks and spent a whole day running errands in them. I found them very comfortable and light, as I ran from location to location.
The upper part of the GEL-Kenun is super breathable and features Jacquard Mesh. This is to keep moisture minimal. In addition to functionality the sneaker is also fashionable. For women it comes in six colors!
The sneaker’s weight is 9.1 oz, heel height is 22mm and forefoot height is 12mm. It currently retails for $110.
