Sir Patrick Stewart, Morena Baccarin, Selita Ebanks & More Attend IRC’s Annual Award Dinner

A dinner full of stars and special human beings

The International Rescue Committee is an organization which helps people whose lives have been affected by conflict and disaster. It helps them bounce back, survive, recover, and regain control of their lives. The Freedom Award Dinner is held annually to help support the organization’s lifesaving humanitarian aid work around the world.

Sir Patrick Stewart, Morena Baccarin, and Selita Ebanks were among the many attendees at the dinner on November 4 at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel. This year the organization honored the Founder and Executive Chairman of Econet Wireless, Strive Masiyiwa with the Freedom Award. The President and CEO of Mastercard, Ajay Banga, was honored with the Corporate Leader Award, and Josh Weston received the John C. Whitehead Humanitarian Award.  The performances featured during this dinner were by Nico & Vinz and trumpeter Chris Botti.

Patrick Stewart also had to say this:

“I want to see our government make a bigger commitment to help the large number of refugees…Funds are desperately needed and because it is without money, help cannot have the impact that it should have.”
