On The Scene: Simply Dresses Champagne and Shop Event

Simply Dresses hosted a Sip and Shop event in NYC on Thursday to bring in the holidays and to promote their new holiday collection which is filled with sequins and fall tones.

In between sips of unlimited champagne, guests were invited to take pictures in the photo booth and customize bracelets with Nicole Romano of Nicole Romano NYC. However, upon their entrance, girl squads spent most of the time fishing through clothing racks filled with dresses, long and short; and jumpsuits. Women of all shapes and sizes took over the Simply Dresses Pop-Up store which felt more like a chic living room.

“We have a very inclusive size range,” says Melanie Rose, VP of Brand Marketing. “We’re trying to fit everybody. We also have really good price ranges, so if you need to buy more than one it’s not gonna break the bank.”

Since its start in 1998, Simply Dresses has become known for having dresses for every occasion at an affordable price. However, the company has decided to switch things up in terms of who they’re targeting while rebranding over the summer. “We reimagined who the girl is,” says Rose. “She’s modern, she needs a dress constantly for every occasion, she’s always invited somewhere. She’s still approachable, fun and nice. Previously, it wasn’t as personal.”

When just about everyone decided on what dress they’d be taking home, attendees were also gifted a beautiful performance by Anna Shoemaker who brilliantly covered Chance the Rapper.

As for what’s to come in the future, the Simply Dresses team has a pretty solid plan. “We’re shooting the next collection in Miami next week,” Rose reveals. “We have florals, lighter fabrics, and we’re predicting a little bit of one shoulder. It’s pretty.”

“We’re gonna start doing a lot of collaborations,” she adds. “Designer, celebrity, influencer; big things to come in 2019! We’re solidifying now and we’ll have some big announcements.”

In order to keep up with these announcements, follow the Simply Dresses Instagram (@simplydresses). And be sure to stop by their Pop-Up Shop on 42nd Street which will be here from now until December 9th. Happy shopping!
